25 Years of Tree Farming: The Delaware Forestry Association’s President Brian Michalski (second from right) recognized Delaware Tree Farmers with 25 years of continuous Tree Farm certification at the organization’s annual meeting in Bridgeville recently.
From left, Austin Short Sr. of Georgetown, Bessie Shockley of Frankford, and Ruth Hickman of Laurel were honored for their commitment to the American Tree Farm System principles of sound forest stewardship and conservation. Shockley (center) received this year’s Tree Farmer of the Year Award for her enthusiasm about forest management and and her strong desire to preserve forestland in an ecologically sensitive area.
